This is Part 4 of a 6 part series recorded live at RE+ Boston with the team at CPS.
Adding a battery to a commercial solar system delivers ROI in three and a half to four years, sometimes under three. Joe Ross, Director of Channel Sales and National Accounts at CPS America, joins Tim Montague at RE+ Northeast in Boston to explain the C&I storage market, battery economics, and why CPS's existing customer base makes storage a natural next step. Tim notes that energy bills have risen as much as 30% in the past year, setting the stage for accelerated storage adoption.
Joe Ross oversees channel sales and national accounts for CPS America. He has worked with multiple inverter manufacturers and describes CPS as the most stable group he has been part of. CPS has led US C&I installations for the last nine years, giving the company deep relationships with the installers now adding storage.
Episode Highlights:
Joe says energy demand is growing faster than the grid. Data centers are one of the biggest drivers, and the impact is already showing up on average utility bills.
Tim frames solar as a 50 to 75% reduction on a commercial power bill. Add a battery and those savings can multiply four to five times.
After battery payback in three to four years, savings continue for the remaining project life. Joe says CPS sees projects running north of 20 years.
For installers new to storage, Joe says CPS has experts focused on battery technology who walk customers through a short-form process: assess the asset, optimize the energy management system, and deliver a quote.
CPS offers a real-time technical support team live during US daylight hours, remote diagnostics, and corrective action typically within 48 hours. Joe says this post-sale support is CPS's biggest differentiator in the storage market.
This episode is for C&I solar installers considering battery storage, asset owners evaluating ROI on storage additions, and developers tracking the economics of solar plus storage in the Northeast. Joe confirms CPS lead times on larger storage systems run 24 to 26 weeks, with smaller systems faster.
